Head of the Parliament's Internal Commission: Shaam has not yet issued a license to hold council elections

The head of the commission of internal affairs of the country and councils of the Islamic parliament said: The elections of city and village councils were set for the 8th, 15th and 22nd days of November this year, but the permission has not yet been issued by the Supreme National Security Council and we are waiting for the opinion of this institution.

The head of the commission of internal affairs of the country and councils of the Islamic parliament said: The elections of city and village councils were set for the 8th, 15th and 22nd days of November this year, but the permission has not yet been issued by the Supreme National Security Council and we are waiting for the opinion of this institution.

According to the report of Ambassador Arjan Mohammad Saleh Jokar, on Friday at the meeting of the Assembly of Mayors of Iran's big cities in Yazd, he added: When the suspension of the election process was issued, it was due to the special security conditions that prevailed in the country, and finally, the Supreme National Security Council ordered the suspension of the elections.

He continued: Now the issues of war are being managed and should not cause the election to be abandoned. The councils do not have the previous motivation and want to clarify the situation, and the trustee of the councils is the Islamic Council, so a request was made to the Supreme National Security Council.

The representative of the people of Yazd and Ashkazar in the Islamic Council said: Some people requested the dissolution of the councils, but it was decided that the current councils will continue their work until the elections are held, and meetings were held two months ago, and it was decided to announce the cities that are unable to hold elections due to war conditions, but the Ministry of Interior has not yet taken any action.

Jokar continued: The last decision was to hold the elections in a decentralized and non-national manner, and this is also foreseen in the law.

He added: "The draft text has been given to the Supreme National Security Council, but they have not yet given us an answer, and according to this text, it was decided that the provinces will be divided into three groups and elections will be held on the 8th, 15th, and 22nd of November of this year, but the permission has not yet been issued by the Supreme National Security Council and we are waiting."

In another part of his speech, the head of the Internal Affairs Commission and Councils of the Islamic Council complained about the non-implementation of Article 85 of the Seventh Plan, which has been over for more than 2 and a half years, and said: There is no good performance in this department, and it was decided to form a union of mayors, but they are still drafting the constitution of this union.

The 128th meeting of the Assembly of Mayors of Iran's Big Cities was held today, Friday, with the aim of examining this area, hosted by Yazd Municipality.
