Atlanta is currently scheduled to play its home games in the WNBA Finals at Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia, instead of Atlanta's State Farm Arena due to multiple scheduling conflicts, USA Today reported Sunday. This field has 3500 seats for basketball games.
According to ESPN, The Dream has yet to say whether it has secured a larger field for games. There is still time to move games. Game 3 will be played on October 22 and Game 4 on October 24.
Dream president and chief executive Morgan Shaw-Parker said last week that the franchise is finalizing details on their home location and where we will play.
Currently, the State Farm Arena event schedule says SOMBR will perform at 7 p.m. ET on Oct. 22 and the Atlanta Hawks are scheduled to play the Houston Rockets at 8 p.m. ET on October 24.
For what it's worth, McCumish Pavilion — the basketball home of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets — appears to be free for them. The facility seats 8,600. The team played there in 2016, 2017 and 2018 while State Farm Arena was being renovated. USA Today reported that the arena was considered, along with the Gas South Arena, but efforts to move the games there hit a "blockade."
So far, the Dreams have made it past the playoffs. Atlanta defeated the Washington Mystics in the first round and defeated the New York Liberty in the semifinals.
Atlanta was 30-14 during the regular season. Reyes won the Defensive Player of the Year award for his efforts this season. He is in the dream in his first year.
