I Want to Score Against Garcia / New Arshavin Warns Barcelona!
21-year-old Aleksei Batrakov has for several seasons been at the center of hot debate in Russian football.
According to "Sports Three", Batrakov, who is known as the greatest talent of his generation, joined the team this summer by paying 25 million euros from Galatasaray. The Turkish club decided to sign the attacking midfielder after seeing his impact at Lokomotiv Moscow last season, where he recorded an impressive 17 goals and 12 assists in 36 official games.
But beyond the numbers, Batrakoff stands out for the magic of his movements. Compared to Arshavin, he is the symbol of a creative attacking midfielder who is able to make a difference with his talent and imagination. Although he is still far from the greats of Russian football, his understanding of the game is similar to that of his compatriots like Arshavin or Mostovi.
His path to reach the first level of football was not easy. Some coaches doubted that he could make it to professional football due to his physical condition, but his talent and determination eventually won out. Now, after a period of adaptation to Turkish football, he is starting to show his best qualities at Galatasaray, which include his game vision, ability to create situations and knack for finding solutions in tight spaces.
Batrakov also used the last break of the national games to prove his abilities in the Russian team. He played in all three friendlies, was in the starting line-up in two and provided two assists. After returning to Istanbul, against Kasimpasa he recorded his best performance since joining Galatasaray. This attacking midfielder played 66 minutes, returned to the starting line-up and registered his second goal assist in the Turkish league.
His performance was praised by the local media. The Millitt newspaper particularly highlighted the quality of his assist from set pieces: "His assist from the free kick was a true work of art, a precise delivery at a perfect height for the header". This media also emphasized that his influence was far beyond that stage: "Batrakov's influence was not limited to free kicks. In the role of an attacking midfielder, he was one of the main drivers of the attack.
In Türkiye, his development and potential to become the team's big star attacking duo of Victor Osiman and Rafael Liao has been highlighted. Especially about the striker: "They have a very good emotional connection and could make a great couple in the future."
His growth has also raised expectations that he could earn a place in the starting line-up against Barcelona on Tuesday.
Batrakov also looks at this meeting with ambition, although he does not let the stress get the better of him. This young Russian midfielder said: "Maybe I will score against Barcelona as well." I'm sure it will be an interesting game. But to be honest, I haven't given it much thought yet. I don't want to worry unnecessarily."
