Jason Statham returns as former government assassin Adam Kelly in the much-hyped trailer for The Beekeeper 2, which Amazon's MGM Studios released on Thursday.

The short teaser shows Clay going up against the Beekeepers, a secret human intelligence organization that seeks to control the US government and is willing to kill anyone who gets in their way.

"You're the only one who can stop them," Wallace Westwild, played by Jeremy Irons, tells Statham in the teaser.

David Ayer directed the original 2024, which crossed $160 million at the global box office. Irons, Amy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi and Gemma Redgrave are among the actors reprising their roles from the first film, while Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff and Adam Copeland are among the newcomers to the sequel.

Beekeeper 2 is based on a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer and Zach Penn, with stories and characters created by Wimmer Statham, Chris Long and Wimmer, with Ayer, Jonathan Glickman, Tom Zadra, Alexandra Levy and Rachel Cole serving as co-producers.
