The managing director of the Yazd Province Electricity Distribution Company announced the seizure of 83 unlicensed cryptocurrency mining devices at an abandoned livestock farm in Taft county. The facility's annual electricity consumption is estimated at about 2.5 million kWh, equal to the yearly consumption of roughly 1,000 households.

The CEO of the Electricity Distribution Company of Yazd Province announced the discovery of 83 illegal cryptocurrency mining devices in an abandoned livestock farm in one of the villages of Taft city in Yazd province.

According to the report of Ambassador Arjan, Mohammad Javad Jalili, CEO of Yazd Province Electricity Distribution Company announced the discovery of 83 illegal cryptocurrency mining devices in an abandoned livestock farm in one of the villages of Taft city in Yazd province and said: In this case, the electricity needed by the miners was supplied illegally and through direct branching from the Trans cable, before the meter and by hiding the cable underground. An action that is an example of covert exploitation of electricity and encroachment on public rights.

Referring to the details of this case, Jalili said: the amount of electricity consumed by this unauthorized complex is estimated to be around 2.5 million kilowatt hours per year; A significant figure that is equal to the annual electricity consumption of about a thousand households.

Emphasizing that unauthorized tampering with the electricity network violates the rights of other subscribers and imposes costs on the network and the people, he added: the violators tried to hide their activities by branching directly from the Trans cable and bypassing the meter; So that the electric cable used was also hidden under the soil.

The CEO of the Electricity Distribution Company of Yazd Province stated: This operation was carried out with the cooperation of the anonymous soldiers of Imam Zaman (AS), the Economic Security Police and the Taft City Prosecutor, during which 83 illegal mining devices were collected, the electricity was cut off and four people were arrested in connection with this case.

It should be kept in mind that the simultaneous activity of a large number of cryptocurrency mining devices at one point can change the consumption pattern and the unauthorized use of cryptocurrency mining devices, in addition to creating an extra and unconventional load on the electricity network, can cause fluctuations and disruptions in the network and damage to electrical equipment and facilities.
