Lady Zaynab Stood Against Distortion of Truth; The Price of Human Existence

Qom – One of the marja’ (senior clerics), explaining Lady Zaynab’s stance against Ubaidullah ibn Ziyad, stressed that by rejecting Umayyad fatalism, she revealed the reality of human free will and the individual’s responsibility for their actions.

According to Mehr reporter, Ayatollah Abdullah Javadi Amoli explained the epistemological and scientific aspects of the words of that great lady of Islam and explained the theological and theological position of her positions against the Umayyad ruling system, referring to the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zainab Kabri (PBUH), before noon on Wednesday, in the weekly meeting of the ethics lesson which was held in the presence of different groups of people in the Grand Mosque of Qom.

By examining the conversation of Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) with Ubaidullah bin Ziyad in Kufa, he considered this encounter to be more than an emotional response to the sufferings of Karbala and emphasized its importance in explaining human agency and rejecting the idea of determinism.

Pointing out that the Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.) explained the religious teachings, they also took a stand against intellectual and belief deviations, and said: the words of Hazrat Zainab al-Kabri (pbuh) in Kufa expressed deep knowledge and looked at one of the important theological and theological issues, and it should not be evaluated only in the context of expressing suffering and sorrow.

Referring to the Umayyad rulers' efforts to promote the idea of predestination, Ayatollah Javadi Amoli considered this approach as a tool to justify the government's performance and avoid accepting responsibility for behavior and explained that in such an attitude, achievements and charities were recorded in the name of the rulers, but problems and wrong behaviors were attributed to divine judgment and destiny.

Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) explained the responsibility of man

Pointing to the continuation of this approach in the later periods of Islamic history, he added: The Umayyads and after them the Banu Abbas and other rulers, in order to justify their oppression and maintain their power, sometimes attributed the events to divine decree and destiny in order to distance themselves from accepting responsibility for their behavior, while the doctrine of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) is based on a truth beyond absolute determinism and complete delegation.

This taqlid authority noted: According to these religious teachings, man is responsible for his actions and cannot attribute his actions to the will of God and avoid being accountable for them.

Ayatollah Javadi Amoli stated that the imams of Athar (a.s.) were at the highest level of knowledge, explaining precise intellectual and scientific issues to the society, and clarified: confronting religious deviations and clarifying the truth of human responsibility is one of the important aspects of the teachings of Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.).

In explaining this issue, he pointed to the encounter of Ubaidullah bin Ziyad with Hazrat Zainab Kabri (pbuh) and said: When Ubaidullah bin Ziyad spoke about what happened to Imam Hussain (pbuh) and his family in Karbala and sought to attribute these events to God, Hazrat Zainab (pbuh) clarified the line between God's will and the responsibility of the perpetrators of the crime with a precise answer.

Referring to the famous response of Hazrat Zainab (pbuh) with the phrase "We vote only beautifully", this statement does not mean that the crime of the perpetrators of the Karbala incident should be ignored, but with this reply, Hazrat Zainab (pbuh) separated the beauty of God's act from the crime of oppressors and showed that the responsibility for killing and oppression rests with those who committed it.

A free man measures his worth with heaven

In another part of his speech, Ayatollah Javadi Amoli explained the true value of man and the concept of freedom by explaining passages from Nahj al-Balagha and emphasized the necessity of avoiding attachment to fleeting positions and situations.

Referring to the words of Amir al-Mu'minin Ali (a.s.) about the existential value of human beings, he stated: It is stated in Nahj al-Balagha that you should know that your existence has no price except heaven, so do not sell it except to heaven.

Ayatollah Javadi Amoli emphasized that man should know his existential value and noted: Freedom is that man does not involve himself in fleeting affairs and measures his true status with transcendental standards, because man's value is not less than heaven and he should not sell himself for a lower price.

Man approaches perfection by knowing his truth

Referring to the works of recognizing the true value of man, this professor of the seminary said: He who distances himself from attachment to things of low value and measures his existence with heaven, follows a different path in thought and behavior, and in such an attitude, benevolence for himself and others finds a place.

He added: When a person sets the goal of his life on the path of perfection, he neither harms others nor deprives himself of good and blessings, but tries to harmonize his behavior and decisions with high human and spiritual values.

Stating that a person should pay attention to the desires and tendencies of his heart, he said: Every person should study the book of his heart and see what his heart is inclined to and what path it follows, because knowing the inner truth can provide the basis for paying more attention to the path of life and moving towards perfection.

Referring to the importance of remembering God and supplicating to God, this authority of imitation pointed out that the human heart has the capacity to communicate and pray to God, and the remembrance and name of God can provide the basis for crossing spiritual distances and strengthening the link between man and the origin of existence.

God's closeness is strengthened by loving relationships

Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, by linking the issue of knowing the heart to the discussion of freedom and freedom from worldly ties, emphasized the necessity of abandoning attachments that hinder human movement on the path of excellence.

Pointing out that the spiritual distance of a person is reduced by leaving low-value relationships, he said: the more a person moves forward in the path of God's closeness, the deeper his connection with God becomes, and in this way, the attention of a person moves from words and appearances to a deeper understanding of the divine truth.

Referring to the place of the soul in the system of creation, this seminary professor explained the difference between physical characteristics and human truth and stated: Being male and female is related to the physical dimension of a human being, but the soul is not male or female in terms of its truth.

Emphasizing that physical characteristics should not be considered the same as the truth of the soul, he added: the body is a means and a step for the flight of the soul, and the characteristics of the body should not be generalized to the truth of the soul and the spiritual capacities of man.

The human spirit is not limited by gender

Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, referring to the verses of the Holy Qur'an about the attributes of believers and the righteous, emphasized the common capacity of humans to move in the path of perfection and said: Human truth is not limited to being a woman or a man, and all humans can achieve spiritual heights by following the path of excellence.

Stating that the human soul moves in the path of perfection and celibacy, he pointed out: what is important in the path of transcendence is the human truth and the movement towards perfection, and humans can reach the status of divine human beings by cultivating their spiritual capacities.
