Central Bank of Russia says transport turnover in Russia is growing
Growth was recorded across all types except pipeline and inland waterway transport
Rostov-on-Don, October 15. /TASS/. The Bank of Russia said in its regional economic report, seen by TASS, that Russia's shipping traffic increased during the first eight months of 2026, despite a decline in the performance of southern ports.
The central bank said that such a situation was formed in the background of the significant growth of goods circulation in the Far East, caused by the change in the direction of part of sea cargo from southern ports and due to the increase in energy exports to Asia.
Earlier, due to the tense situation in the Sea of Azov following drone attacks on naval vessels, the Russian Ministry of Transport organized a special center for coordination of transport operations to ensure cargo logistics in the Azov-Black Sea area.
The turnover of goods in all modes of transportation has increased by 0.2 percent in the 8 months of this year compared to the same period last year, and growth has been recorded for all types except for pipeline and inland water transportation. On the one hand, the volume of goods turnover in the southern ports of Russia has decreased compared to the same period last year. The central bank announced that it was caused by both the increase in energy exports to Asian countries and the change in the direction of part of sea cargo from the southern ports of Russia.
