You Talk About Unity but Stay Silent Over Divisive Remarks by Supporters / Rasaei, Say You Are Sorry

The entry of a well-known political figure who holds political and security posts on the Supreme National Security Council and the Expediency Council has once again heated up the debate over Rasaei's ruling and the controversies surrounding it.

About two weeks have passed since the release of the final sentence of Hamid Rasaei, the member of parliament who was sentenced for the accusations against the speaker before his term of office, which led to reactions in cyberspace and some street rallies.

Quds newspaper wrote: According to Dr. Saeed Jalili's information site, two days ago at the commemoration ceremony of the martyred leader and the anniversary of the Al-Aqsa storm operation held at the University of Tehran, in response to a question about the judicial incident between two members of the parliament, he said: "One of the statements made by the supreme leader of the revolution was that differences, even if they are justified, should not cause unity to be disrupted. In fact, I have told all my friends on this and other issues that we should not witness such events in a situation where our nation has come to the field like this and supports and supports the regime and the revolution with unity. From a legal point of view, it may be an issue with a judicial decision; But what is important is that today all the forces of the revolution must overcome these issues and stand up to play a role in the revolution. God willing, all of us should try to play a worthy role in this direction.

First of all, his emphasis on following the frequent recommendations of the martyred leader and supreme leader of the revolution regarding unity and avoiding justifiable differences is worthy of appreciation. This issue is important because some people have taken destructive and harsh positions against other officials and legal institutions of the country in the name of being a fan of him, but now, Mr. Jalili's own position regarding destructive behaviors is clear. Any voice that echoes unity and invites to avoid differences should be appreciated and supported.

In the second place, the discussion is about the concept of unity. Undoubtedly, in defining the concept of unity, what should be the theoretical consensus based on which unity should be formed, the law and the official institutions of the Islamic Republic are centered. The performance of these devices may have flaws and criticism, but criticism of the performance of these devices by the audience of Mr. Jalili's advice should also be done within the framework provided by the law through a non-destructive and polite media position or protest to the regulatory institutions. Otherwise, recommending unity without implementing its provisions and criticizing destructive actions against unity is considered a general and worthless recommendation.

In the third place, the question is raised that from the point of view of recommending unity, should the issue of Mr. Rasaei's ruling be considered a judicial incident between two representatives, and simply from a paternalistic and incorrect position, advise all parties to avoid disputes, or is it expected that in parallel with the call for unity and avoiding disputes, stubbornness against judicial rulings and insistence on creating disputes will be criticized more? Here is the criticism that how can one stand in the middle and advise everyone equally in a case where a judicial path has been taken for more than two years and a person, despite the judicial conviction, has not made any effort to atone for his mistake, and even his friends and neighbors had turned the political and media atmosphere and some street gatherings into an arena of discord and slander against the speaker of the parliament and the judicial system?

The issue is clear. The key to Mr. Rasai's freedom is his own hand. It is clear that the judiciary is not affected by cyberspace destruction. The speaker of the parliament has also used his legal rights to preserve the dignity of the legislature and if we expect that Mr. Qalibaf will fail and give up the complaint and execution of the sentence, it is reasonable to expect that Mr. Rasaei, who has been definitively sentenced by the court of the Islamic Republic of Iran, will apologize for the slander and cruelty he caused and accused the speaker of tampering with the documents of the parliament. In the meantime, it is expected that the people who are responsible for maintaining the security and the interests of the Islamic Republic will clearly warn the people who claim to support them to obey the law and maintain the framework of the system, and deal with any move that weakens the responsible institutions that are facing security threats and very important issues from war to livelihood in this sensitive situation of the country.

In fact, advice for unity; It is valuable and a step forward, but at the same time, it should be accompanied by a more explicit advice to avoid controversy-makers from breaking unity and invite them to correct their previous false claims, so that the issue can be upgraded from a verbal recommendation in the direction of unity to a practical action in consolidating unity.
