Rasht - The Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance issued a message expressing his condolences on the death of Ayatollah Ghorbani Lahiji, the former representative of the Supreme Leader in Gilan province.
According to Ambassador Arjan Seyyed Abbas Salehi, by publishing a message, he expressed his condolences on the death of Ayatollah Zainul Abdin Ghorbani Lahiji, the former representative of the religious jurist in Gilan province, the former Friday imam of Rasht and a four-term member of the Assembly of Leadership Experts.
The text of the message of the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance is as follows:
"The passing away of the learned scholar and jurist, Hazrat Ayatollah Zainul Abdin Ghorbani Lahiji, caused sadness and emotion among the well-known figures of the seminary and among the guardians of the scientific and cultural heritage of Islamic Iran. That respected scholar was one of the scholars who, along with religious and social endeavors, considered the preservation of thought and the spread of Islamic knowledge as a lasting mission.
Decades of efforts in the field of education, writing and research in Quranic sciences and the teachings of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and efforts to revive the scientific works and glories of this land have left a rich record of the cultural life of the late Saeed.
His long-term presence in the position of Juma's Imamate and the representation of the religious jurist in Gilan province, along with scientific and cultural services and efforts to promote knowledge and virtue, will make the memory and name of that Jalil-ul-Qadr scholar permanent in the memory of the grateful people of this country and the scientific community and seminary of the country.
For this loss, I offer my condolences to the seminaries, the noble and cultured people of Gilan province, the students and devotees, and especially to his holy house, and I ask for God's mercy and God's grace for that scholar, exaltation of ranks and companionship with righteous parents, and for the honorable survivors, patience and reward.
