Challenges Facing Blind Students: Why Are Audiobooks No Substitute for Braille?
Blind high school students face growing difficulty accessing textbooks as the number of books increases and Braille materials are hard to carry. The deputy head of the Exceptional Education Organization, referring to the partial audio delivery of curriculum content, said the agency is studying ways to make Braille content easier to access and will pilot a program to adapt learning conditions in schools.
The challenge of blind students' access to textbooks in secondary school, with the increase in the number of books and the difficulty of carrying braille resources, has emphasized the need to use alternative educational tools, so the vice president of the Exceptional Education Organization, pointing to the presentation of part of the course content in audio, announced the review of solutions for easier access of these students to the braille content and the trial implementation of the plan to adapt educational conditions in schools.
