Musician Casey Musgraves Condemns Columbus as the "Laziest Person Who Has Probably Ever Existed"
Casey Musgraves Slams Christopher Columbus on Stage in Texas, and Recently Hosted Democratic Senate Candidate James Talarico at a Concert
Singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves slammed Italian explorer Christopher Columbus shortly before Columbus Day.
Speaking to the Texas crowd on her second night at the American Airlines Center on Sunday, Musgraves noted that the next day, Monday, was Columbus Day.
"Tomorrow is Monday?... Oh, right, wait, it's Columbus Day? Now what?" He asked if it was Indigenous Peoples Day as the audience booed and corrected him.
"Yeah, no yeah yeah, actually, obviously f--- Columbus. Literally the weakest person that probably ever existed. Really like it. What a loser," he said. "You're a loser, Christopher Columbus, we hate you!"

While Columbus is revered for his transatlantic voyages that paved the way for European exploration of the Americas, he has also been heavily scrutinized by activists and academics for his treatment of indigenous peoples and the initiation of widespread colonization. As a result, in recent decades there have been repeated flare-ups of national tension over whether the discoverer should be honored.
Musgraves has recently made headlines for her political activism.
In August, she asked her fans to donate to the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights.
"It's a fantastic organisation, and they give help - legal help - and money to children whose parents have been unfairly deported," Musgraves said. "It's not a political thing. It's just that these kids need help."
Newsweek recently reported that Musgraves hosted Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico at a concert in Dallas over the weekend and was by his side as he mocked former Homeland Security Secretary Christy Nome.
John Cooper talks about the dangers of speaking out in politics and why he wants to 'stay the course'.
Obviously, no one expects a corporate-backed recording star to know a damn thing about world history, but unfortunately, the abysmal educational standards of our public schools have made Musgrave's misguided views common among ordinary Americans. The real problem is that Columbus was a brave adventurer and seafarer ahead of his time, to whom we owe much of the prosperity we now enjoy. The kind of boom that makes Musgraves rake in millions while spouting uneducated hot stuff with no basis in reality."
