The 2027 Nissan Altima will remain on the production lines despite rumors of a production stoppage, with a new price tag and changes in powertrain options.
Nissan has officially introduced a new version of its veteran sedan, ending speculation about its early retirement. However, buyers will have to budget more for the new model as the base price has increased. The sixth generation of this Japanese family sedan will continue to fight to maintain its share of the economy sedan market as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Trim changes and price of Nissan Altima 2027
Base pricing for the front-wheel-drive Altima SV starts at $29,065, which includes a $1,275 delivery charge, unchanged from last year. This figure shows an increase of 210 dollars compared to the past; Additionally, it is no longer possible to order all-wheel drive (AWD) for the base SV trim. Buyers who want all-wheel drive must step up to the more expensive Altima SR trim and pay an extra $1,500. Nissan currently does not offer any special editions like the SR Midnight Edition.
The naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine continues to power the car, producing 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque in the front-wheel drive version, which drops to 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet in the two-wheel drive model. The Xtronic CVT continuously variable transmission is responsible for power transmission, and its combined fuel consumption reaches 30 mpg in the front axle model. Standard features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and remote start, while a 12.3-inch touchscreen and wireless charging are optional extras. The SR trim is equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, carbon fiber trim, sport exhaust outlets and paddle shifters.

The competitive position of Nissan Altima in the sedan market
Nissan's base price is no longer the cheapest option on the market, as the 2027 Kia K5 starts at $28,935 with the 186-hp engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. Another Japanese competitor, the 2027 Toyota Camry, is more expensive with a base price of $30,955, but offers a highly efficient standard hybrid powertrain with 51 mpg combined. Altima sales in the first 9 months of the year decreased by 26% to 56,424 units, which is far from the Camry sales of 260,684 units.
