Mobile Water Delivery in South Khorasan: From Thirsty Villages to Nomadic Communities
Birjand – The CEO of the South Khorasan Water and Wastewater Company announced the delivery of more than 130,000 cubic meters of water to villages across South Khorasan.
According to Mehr reporter, the decrease in rainfall in the past years and the continuation of drought have caused significant damage to the agriculture and animal husbandry sector of South Khorasan and have made the life of the villagers and nomads of this province face serious challenges.
On the one hand, the lack of water resources has made it difficult to provide the water needed by livestock and animal husbandry activities, and on the other hand, with the drying up of canals and the damage of existing water sources, the access of the residents of some villages and nomadic areas to drinking water has also faced problems.
In such a situation, mobile water supply using tankers has become one of the solutions for water supply in areas with a lack of water resources; A solution whose continuity depends on facilities, equipment and water transport fleet.
Despite the measures taken by the responsible institutions, the water supply needed by the villagers and nomads is still one of the important concerns in the water-scarce areas of the province, and strengthening the mobile water supply fleet and pursuing sustainable water supply solutions have become more important.
In a conversation with Mehr reporter, Hossein Tawakli announced the increase in the volume of mobile water supply to the villages of the province in the first 6 months of 1405 and stated: During this period, 130 thousand 778 cubic meters of water were transported to the villages of South Khorasan province through 10 thousand 596 mobile water supply.
Referring to the measures taken to solve the problems of water supply in the villages of South Khorasan province, he said: mobile water supply is one of the solutions for providing drinking water in villages with water shortage, which is done with the aim of meeting the water needs of the villagers and the continuity of service provision in this regard.
10,641 mobile water supply services
Tavakli further added: In the first 6 months of 1404, 10,641 mobile water supply services have been carried out.
The CEO of South Khorasan Water and Sewerage Company further emphasized the importance of providing sustainable drinking water in rural areas and stated: These measures are carried out in order to solve the water problems of the villages, meet the essential needs of the people and improve the living conditions of the villagers, and the Water and Sewerage Company of the province tries to continue water supply services in the needy areas throughout the year by using all available capacities.
The Director General of Nomadic Affairs of South Khorasan said in this regard: Water supply is one of the most important needs of the nomadic community, and to strengthen this sector, more than 23 light and heavy water supply machines have been used in nomadic areas.
Hojjat Khademinejad added: With the strengthening of the water supply equipment and fleet, the amount of mobile water supply to the nomadic areas of the province has increased by 60%, and eight new Benz water tankers have also been purchased.
Director General of Nomadic Affairs of South Khorasan also pointed to the measures taken in the field of water supply to the nomadic areas of the province and said: the restoration of canals is one of the measures that have been taken to improve the access of nomads to services and communication routes.
In a situation where the drought still casts its heavy shadow on the water resources of South Khorasan, strengthening the mobile water supply fleet and increasing the capacity to provide services to villages and nomadic areas is a step in the direction of reducing water scarcity problems; However, the continuation of these services, along with the revival of canals and the implementation of sustainable water supply plans, can provide more reliable access to drinking water for villagers and nomads and reduce their concerns.
