Reports say Mamdani's team has clashed with the Socialist candidate he backs over the shooting at ICE

Reports say staff of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani have condemned Dariela Aviles Chevalier after she publicly called for the removal of NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.

According to the New York Post, New York City Mayor Zahran Mamdani's staff is furious with New York House Democratic candidate Daralisa Avila-Chevalier for her verbal attacks on New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch after the recent shooting.

After Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents shot an undocumented immigrant earlier this month, the New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialist of America (DSA), to which Chevalier belongs, called on Mamdani to remove Tish.

Although Mamdani said he was investigating the circumstances of the shooting, he had no plans to remove Tish.

"Jessica Tisch is the police commissioner. I have no plans to change that," Mamdani told reporters on Tuesday.

Despite already receiving Mamdani's endorsement, Chevalier was among critics calling for Tisch's ouster, which his staff reportedly called a "direct undermining" of the mayor.

"They had an opinion about what he was doing on social media and his public rhetoric at NYPD," a source told the New York Post. "The mayor's office was like, 'What are you doing?'

Another source added: "He uses his fireball slogans to rally people." "But provocation doesn't help."

According to the New York Post, the sources described Shawaliyeh as a known "potential liability" for the Mamdani government for some time and were surprised at how quickly he became a "potential liability." The problem

"He's a loose cannon," a source said. They are tired of him and he hasn't even started in Congress.

While Chevalier appeared with Twitch streamer Hassan Picar, Tish protested that the criminal history of Oscar Belgal, the 28-year-old Dominican Republic international who was shot during an immigration operation, was highlighted during a news conference about the shooting.

"You know, I was very angry when I was listening to it," said the knight. "I went back to his statement to make sure I was correct in my statement about it. But, to me, it doesn't even matter, does it? It doesn't even matter."

"The police commissioner was providing a factual update on this incident, and we always provide criminal history in incident updates if we have it. It is also one of the first questions any media outlet asks the NYPD," the statement read.

David Laska, communications director for the New York State Republican Party, condemned the entire Democratic Party for abandoning Mamdani as a voice of reason.
