Nowshahr - Following the sighting of a leopard collar in the Bandpi area of Nowshahr, the environmental protection forces attended the site and warned the local residents about the need to keep a distance from this valuable species.

In an interview with Mehr reporter, Qasim Moghimi, the commander of the Nowshahr Environmental Protection Unit, referring to the sighting of a leopard collar in the Bandpi area, said: Considering the existence of natural habitats in the Bandpi and Najarde area of Nowshahr and the proximity of these areas to human settlements, there is a possibility of people encountering wildlife and conflict between humans and animal species.

He added: Environmental protection forces, in cooperation with local helpers, have put care and information measures on the agenda with the aim of reducing the probability of accidents and maintaining the safety of people and wildlife.

A resident asked the residents of the area to refrain from approaching the leopard, provoking or chasing it and unnecessary use of dogs in the area of the habitat and possible routes of this animal.

He also emphasized the need to remain calm when observing this species and asked people to avoid any arbitrary action to approach or face the animal while observing safety precautions and to inform the environmental forces about the issue.

The presence of species such as leopards in natural areas close to human settlements doubles the need to increase public awareness about how to safely interact with wildlife and protect natural habitats.
