Meta is making up for lost time in the AI race. After launching the Muse Spark, the first model from the revamped Superintelligence Labs division and artificial intelligence agent Muse, it's now launching two new models that it claims can keep up with the best in the industry.

The company says its new models can compete with leading OpenAI and Anthropic models including the GPT-6 Astra, Claude Opus 5.5 and Claude Fable 5.1, citing internal testing results on several industry benchmarks. It's unclear how they stack up against Google's Gemini 4 Argon, whose capabilities are still in the spotlight.

The launches are part of the meta's aggressive push to reestablish itself as a major force in AI. The company has invested billions in talent and infrastructure and is steadily expanding its AI portfolio, including with the Muse Image model and a strong focus on bringing useful AI agents to the masses through Muse.
