Foreign Ministry Spokesperson on Possible Iranian NPT Withdrawal: You Assassinated the Fatwa Issuer, Then Say You Are Worried About Nuclear Weapons Being Discussed in Iran / French Officials Say That to Keep Your Freedom, You Must Be Frightening; You Cannot Send Such a Message to the World and at the Same Time Express Concern About Debate in Iran over the Benefits of NPT Membership

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson, responding to a question about concerns in some Western circles over a possible Iranian withdrawal from the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and statements made domestically on the issue, said: They created this concern themselves; there is no remedy for self-inflicted problems.

Ambassador Arjan: The press conference of Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Beqai was held today, Monday, October 20, 1405, with the presence of media and journalists.

In response to a question about the concern of some Western circles about the possibility of Iran withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the statements made inside the country about this issue, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: They created this concern themselves; Self-made is not a plan.

He added: This question is logically raised in Iran, among elites, people and members of parliament, what is the benefit of being a member of such a document. Those must answer the question that they themselves have caused the foundations of the non-proliferation regime to weaken; Not only in Iran, but in the entire region and globally.

He continued: It is a matter of debate whether the non-proliferation regime really guarantees the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. The non-proliferation regime has had three philosophies: nuclear disarmament, preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons and ensuring that countries benefit from nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; An issue that is important to us. This regime has faced problems in all three areas; Not from us, but from those who have been in charge of this institution.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: "Consider the statements of the president and French officials who proudly speak of the new nuclear weapon test and say that if you want to preserve your freedom, you must be scary." You can't send such a message to the world on the one hand and, on the other hand, express your concern that Iran is discussing and commenting on the usefulness and necessity of continuing to participate in the NPT.

Baqaei said: It is natural to discuss these issues in our society, as a multi-voiced society where the press is free and has intelligent people who have especially observed the developments of the last two years.

Ismail Beqaei added: What's worse is that you really have to show these things to them; A crime that has been committed. The leader who had a fatwa on the prohibition of nuclear weapons, and this fatwa was not just a fatwa of a political official, but a fatwa of a high-ranking religious official. You assassinated the author of the fatwa and then you say that we are worried about why nuclear weapons are being discussed in Iran. Therefore, they worry for no reason; Because they themselves caused this situation.
