South Park

Kyle

South Park's 29th season reaches its halfway mark this week, with the Comedy Central animated comedy moving away from the political satire that defined the past two seasons and once again focusing the plot on the events of the renamed Colorado town — which, thanks to President Trump, has seen its name changed to South America.

The logline for "You Like That On Your Face," released ahead of tonight's episode, reads, "As the aura battles sweep across South America, Kyle tries to help his little brother not choke."

"South America" in the new episode is literally big tech billionaires.

Aura battles are a viral public performance trend in which teenagers and young adults face off in public places, usually on city streets, to see who has the most charm, aggression, and nonverbal confidence. Contestants exchange gestures, gestures, and exaggerated gestures, and the crowd's reaction determines the winner. There are no referees or scorecards. Whoever looks the smoothest, has the most confidence, or looks the least is usually the winner.

The frenzy overtaking South Park may be a reflection of Season 28's famous "6, 7" episode, which introduced that youth trend to a generation of adults. If you have a niece or nephew, or just want to know what's going on in 5th grade classrooms across the country lately, this is one you can't miss.

New episodes of the award-winning Emissary air every Wednesday at 10 p.m. on Comedy Central this season. Episodes stream on Paramount+ and are available on demand through your TV provider after streaming.

South Park received its sixth Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program earlier this year, along with several other awards for its 10-episode 2025 run.
