The official title of the fourth film in The Mummy franchise, starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, has been revealed: The Mummy: The Book of the Dead. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz return as Rick and Evy O'Connell. The cast also includes John Hannah and Michael Jonst

The fourth movie in The Mummy series, starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, has a new official title. This movie will be called The Mummy: The Book of the Dead.

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz reprise their roles as Rick and Evie O'Connell. John Hanna, Michael Johnston, Numan Achar, Kevin J. O'Connor and Oded Fehr are also other actors in this episode. The story details of the movie have not been released yet. As previously announced, Universal will release this film in theaters on October 15, 2027.

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz first appeared together in the hit movie The Mummy in 1999. The story of this movie is about a treasure hunter who accidentally wakes up an Egyptian priest cursed with otherworldly powers. This work, which was considered a recreation of one of Universal's classic monster-oriented and horror films, had two sequels named The Mummy Returns in 2001 and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. Fraser appeared in both sequels, but Weiss did not appear in the third installment.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillette, known as Radio Silence, are directing the fourth installment of the classic action franchise. The screenplay is written by David Coggeshall.

Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillette are best known for 2019's Ready or Not and Paramount's 2022 revival of the Scream franchise. On the other hand, Coggshall's works include The Family Plan and The Orphan: First Kill.

Sean Daniel is present as a producer in this project. He had previously participated in the production of spin-offs and remakes related to this series, including The Scorpion King in 2002 and The Mummy in 2017. Universal's attempt to reboot the series in 2017 starring Tom Cruise was, contrary to expectations, a major failure both critically and commercially.

Other producers of the new film include William Schrock, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment, as well as Clayton Townsend. Brendan Fraser and Jason F. HighMind's Brown will also serve as executive producers on The Mummy: The Book of the Dead.
