EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has preemptively acquired Canopy, a horror-thriller from Brandon Feldman, sources tell Deadline.

Netflix representatives declined to comment. We're told it was a six-figure deal. Verve hosted the auction.

Rivaling the likes of Apex, Predator and The Shallows, Canopy follows a botanist searching for a rare medical cure in the uncharted Amazon canopy who must survive a terrifying and undiscovered apex predator after being sacrificed by a local village.

Adam Goodman and Matt Skeena will produce Jury #2 via Dichotomy.

Feldman's romantic-comedy Marriage Material — co-written by Ben Agron and starring Emma Roberts and Matt Rife — is in development with BuzzFeed Studios and Capstone Pictures. The duo was also hired to write a rom-com for Storyboard Entertainment.

Feldman has optioned other scripts for Rebel Way Entertainment, Minds Eye Entertainment and Belga Studios. He is repped by Verve, John Dunne at Independent Artists Media, and Mitchell Ostrove at Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
