Giants' Jameis Winston and HC John Harbaugh reflect on WILD tie against Chiefs

New York Giants QB Jameis Winston and HC John Harbaugh spoke to the media after the team's 27-27 tie against the Washington Chiefs.

J.J. McCarthy may not have made a huge impact in New York yet, but that could soon change.

McCarthy had five snaps in the New York Giants' 27-27 draw with the Washington Chiefs on Sunday, and head coach John Harbaugh indicated more snaps could be on the way for the 23-year-old.

"The upside? It's a change of pace," Harbaugh said in a press conference Wednesday. "What you saw probably isn't all we have on him right now. Whether he's there or not will be determined by whatever happens. But we'll see if it's something that can help us."

The head coach said that the team is always looking for opportunities to improve and wants to explore all avenues.

"One thing about it, to me, is what's the point of not doing everything you can to use all the players you have? We're always looking for opportunities to use our players, give them a chance to help us win games. I think we're remiss if we don't do that," Harbaugh said.

One of McCarthy's plays was a screen pass to Malik Naborz that was called back for a penalty. Three of his plays involved using the threat of his running ability to spark a tough running game.

The running game was strong in the Giants' Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys with Jackson Dart in the lineup, but has faltered since he went down with the injury. It looks like the Giants will continue to use McCarthy to spark their running game.

Winston has been the starting quarterback since Dartt was sidelined with an injury and is 2-0-1. In four games (three starts) in Dart relief, Winston has completed 57.6 percent of his passes for 805 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions.

Still, Winston looks comfortable every week in the Giants' offense.

When the Giants play one of Winston's former teams, the New Orleans Saints, Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, McCarthy will likely draft Winston for a few snaps.
