Sanctions Until Verdict Is Set: Gary Neville's Controversial Stance on Manchester City
Gary Neville has admitted he would prefer not to cover Manchester City's matches until a final verdict is reached in the club's 115-charge case.
According to "Varesh Se", Manchester City has been found guilty of all 115 charges brought against the club by an independent panel after a multi-year investigation of the English Premier League.
Since then, the club has protested against the verdict and continues to insist on its innocence. Meanwhile, the evidence presented indicates that the owners of the club have violated nearly one billion pounds in their financial reports.
On Sunday, Enzo Maresca's team faced Liverpool in their first match after the announcement of this verdict and won with a decisive result of 3-0. Neville said on Sky Sports after the match that he would be happy if he did not have to cover Manchester City's matches until the possible punishments were determined.
He said: "We were just recording the podcast and we said if you could take me out of Manchester City coverage for the next few months until the final rulings are made, I'd be really, really happy.
At the end of the match it gets a bit tricky as you imagine if the convictions are upheld in January or February, Manchester City will no longer be in the position they are now and it will cast a heavy shadow over the entire Premier League. "This is not good at all for the Premier League in the current situation, and today I just realized the importance of this issue."
