Energy Imbalance Raises Production Costs/ Pursuing International Recognition of Iranian Certificates

Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Chairman says energy imbalance is one of the country's most serious economic challenges, adding that restrictions on electricity and gas supply have reduced production capacity, raised operating costs and made planning for many businesses difficult, requiring careful management. Post: Energy imbalance has raised production costs/ Pursuing international recognition of Iranian certificates is the first b

According to Arjan's ambassador, Mahmoud Najafiarab stressed the necessity of energy imbalance management and renewable energy development on Tuesday, emphasizing the necessity of energy imbalance management and the development of renewable energy. He said: Although the development of energy production capacity is necessary, the whole solution cannot be summed up in the construction of more power plants, but it is a part of consumption management, reducing energy loss and increasing productivity.

He continued: Energy efficiency standards, from industrial engines and production equipment to energy management systems, can help reduce the consumption and cost of enterprises, therefore, the standard should not be considered merely an administrative requirement, but an economic tool to increase productivity.

Referring to the economic capacities of the development of renewable energies, the head of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce said: the growth of the installed capacity of the country's renewable power plants this year has created new opportunities for investors, equipment manufacturers, knowledge-based companies and technical and engineering service providers; However, the development of this sector will not be sustainable without ensuring the quality and performance of the equipment.

He added: Solar panels, inverters, storage systems, and grid connection equipment must be evaluated in terms of safety, quality, and performance in accordance with valid requirements. The existence of appropriate standards, efficient test infrastructure and conformity assessment, reduces investment risk and increases market confidence.

Najafi Arab emphasized: In order to realize this year's slogan, a practical link should be established between energy capacity development, productivity improvement and equipment standardization, so that the result is a reduction in production costs and an increase in the competitiveness of enterprises.

The necessity of international acceptance of Iran's test and inspection certificates

The head of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce considered the international acceptance of test results and inspection certificates issued in Iran to be one of the important demands of the private sector and said: "One of the valuable achievements of the country has been alignment in international frameworks related to laboratory cooperation and qualification approval, including ILAC and APAC."

He added: The expectation of the private sector was that after the realization of this achievement, the necessary negotiations and arrangements would be made with the target countries so that the results of the tests and inspection certificates issued in Iran would be accepted in the destination markets.

Najafi-Arab clarified: The goal was that the Iranian exporter would not be forced to test and inspect his product again in the destination country or a third country and pay additional costs and time due to the lack of a mutual acceptance mechanism. However, from the point of view of economic activists, this expectation has not yet been fully realized and there are still cases of repetition of evaluation and test processes abroad.

He said: The technical validity of a certificate becomes an economic advantage when its results can be accepted in the destination market, therefore alignment in the international qualification approval system is a valuable achievement, but its economic exploitation requires the pursuit of mutual acceptance agreements, determining the scope of acceptance and effective negotiation with the institutions of the target countries.

Technical regulations should be developed with the participation of the private sector

Referring to the general approval of the establishment of the technical regulation system in the recent meeting of the Supreme Standards Council with the presence of the president, Najafi Arab said: the realization of the goals of this system requires coordination between the executive bodies, avoiding parallel work, participation of the private sector in the development of regulations and preventing sudden changes.

He added: The stability and predictability of regulations, while improving quality and safety, prevents the imposition of unforeseen costs on companies and lays the groundwork for private sector investment.

According to the head of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, instead of creating new administrative layers, the system of technical regulations should lead to transparency, participation of stakeholders, stability of regulations and facilitation of economic activity.

Proposing three axes of cooperation between the Tehran Chamber and the National Standard Organization

Emphasizing the necessity of transforming standardization policies into tangible economic results, Najafi Arab suggested that the Tehran Chamber of Commerce and the Iranian National Organization for Standardization, with the participation of specialized organizations, follow three axes in a specific way.

He said: The first axis is to identify the obstacles of standardization and compliance assessment in the development of renewable energy and optimization of energy consumption and providing practical solutions to reduce the cost of enterprises.

According to him, developing a road map for the development of international acceptance of Iran's test results and inspection certificates, with the priority of export target markets and determining responsibilities and specific timing for negotiations, is the second proposed axis.

The head of Tehran Chamber of Commerce also considered the third axis of this cooperation to be the creation of a mechanism for the effective participation of economic organizations in the formulation of technical regulations and to prevent the formation of parallel qualification approval processes.

He announced: Tehran Chamber of Commerce is ready to summarize the issues and proposals of the private sector in interaction with the National Standards Organization and other responsible institutions and to cooperate to transform these axes into executive plans.

Najafi Arab expressed hope that by expanding the cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce, the National Standard Organization and other responsible institutions, the field of export development, strengthening of industrial activities and increasing the competitiveness of the country's economic enterprises will be provided.
