The remaster of Destiny 1 could be a very big and shocking event for fans of the series and its overall future.
After the recent revelations that Bungie plans to continue supporting the Destiny series, the possibility of a remastered version of this game does not seem far off.
Bungie announced in May 2026 that it would cease active development of new content for Destiny 2; A decision that apparently could affect the overall future of the series, especially since there was no news of Destiny 3 being made. Protests ensued, Marathon's popularity continued to decline, and just a few months later, Bungie announced that it wasn't done with Destiny.
Bungie's director of product Josh Dean, who has been with the company for seven years and previously held various responsibilities, including managing the Destiny series, recently came across a fan-made video showing off a copy of Destiny 1.
This video, posted on the Flummoxed YouTube channel, shows Destiny 1 running on PC at 4K resolution, 60 frames per second, and a 105-degree field of view.
In response to this video, Dean republished the post published on social networks and wrote in its explanation:
It looks like a beautiful game; I'm curious to know if it will be well received or not...
At least we know that Dean has seen this version of the game and knows what it looks like. But the more important point is the meaning of his final sentence:
I am curious to know if it will be well received or not.
Maybe it's just a simple word choice, but why did he speak as if such a product might actually come out instead of using the hypothetical past tense? Could this statement be an indication of Bungie's possible plans or just a ploy to keep fans curious?
Does this mean the beginning of Destiny 1 development? Or maybe the idea of remastering this game is already under consideration; On the other hand, is it possible that this comment will create false hope in the hearts of hundreds of thousands or even millions of Destiny fans; Fans who are likely to welcome the release of the remastered version, especially those who have been waiting years to experience the official version of the game on PC?
It seems now is the time to speculate! Here's a look at what the Destiny 1 remaster will look like or what features it might come with:
