The president of Payam Noor University announced the preparation of the draft of the ethical guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence in university research and said: This university is trying to publish the aforementioned guidelines before the end of the semester and the beginning of the opportunity to defend theses.
According to ACT News, Amin Naji said on Monday about the formulation of guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence in academic research: the draft guidelines of the research ethics committee have been prepared and it is hoped that the procedures for its approval will be passed within the university and the university council.
He added: Another path is being pursued in the Ministry of Science, and if any of these paths come to fruition sooner, it will be possible to use the instructions.
Pointing to the necessity of determining ethical frameworks for the use of artificial intelligence in research, he added: One of the important points in this field is to increase the speed of doing things with the help of artificial intelligence; But the analysis should belong to the student, professor or instructor. It is the analysis that gives credibility to the research work.
The president of Payam Noor University continued: The second point is documenting the content received from artificial intelligence. The student must be able to document the material used in the original sources. We have considered these two principles as the basis so that other ethical requirements can be set based on them.
Naji expressed his hope that this instruction will be announced before the end of the semester and the beginning of the opportunity to defend theses, so that students who are choosing the subject of their thesis and dissertation will observe the rules related to the use of artificial intelligence from the beginning.
Emphasizing the necessity of monitoring the implementation of these rules, he said: We expect the supervisors and advisors to examine this issue with more sensitivity and precision; In particular, how the research information was collected, categorized, adjusted and integrated, to what extent the student was helped by artificial intelligence and how much of the presented analysis is the result of his own work and thought.
The president of Payam Noor University emphasized: Even after the notification of the instruction, the main issue is to monitor its implementation. The supervisor, advisor and referee of the thesis should play a role in this field. Our request to faculty members is to carefully examine how students use artificial intelligence in the research process.

Naji also said about the latest status of the National Virtual Education Center of Payam Noor University: We are following up on this matter. In recent days, I have raised this issue with the Vice Chancellor of the University so that the final stages of its adjustment can be done based on the specifications that have been provided.
He added: "We are trying to make it possible to admit students for the next academic year by defining the field, center and related code." We are also following up on this matter through the ministry.
