Zelensky adviser confirms SpaceX is restricting Starlink access for Ukraine's military
Sergei Beskrestnov, foreign adviser to Volodymyr Zelensky, said the restrictions currently apply to the "military package" of Starshield services, which has a speed limit set at 100 miles per hour.
Moscow, October 14. /TASS/. Sergei Beskrestnov, a foreign consultant and expert on communications and unmanned systems for Vladimir Zelensky, said that SpaceX had limited the speed of the Starlink satellite Internet terminals used by the Ukrainian military overnight.
He continued: "I can confirm that SpaceX introduced speed limits for Starlink mobile terminals last night. The limits currently apply to the 'Military Package' of Starshield services, with a speed limit of 100 mph (about 160 km/h - dice).
According to Beskrestnov, "this action cannot be accidental and is related to the current political situation."
Sergei Strenenko, a former adviser to Ukraine's defense minister, previously said that the Ukrainian military's access to Starlink was limited. He suggested that SpaceX was acting at the request of the US government.
Politico Europe previously reported that US President Donald Trump could cut US intelligence support to Kiev or pressure Elon Musk to disable SpaceX's Starlink internet service, which Ukraine's military relies heavily on.
