DC Studios Confirms Halt on The Batman Part II Is Not Permanent

The show must go on. In a new interview with IGN, DC Studios CEO and President Peter Safran discussed the halt in production on The Batman: Part II.

Filming on The Batman: Part II was underway in the UK until it was halted earlier this month so director Matt Reeves could attend to a "family matter".

Warner Bros. announced at the time: “Production on Batman 2 has been temporarily halted while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter. Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.

Here is my exact exchange with Safran from our chat last Monday.

IGN: I want to be very subtle about how I ask this. Is there a scenario where Batman: Part II doesn't start again?

Whether that means filming will resume at some point under Reeves' direction, or if a replacement will take over as director, remains to be seen.

Elsewhere in our full interview with him, Safran said of the film: "Batman: Part II, everyone knows the issues we're dealing with right now, but what we've seen of the shoot so far looks absolutely fantastic, and Matt Reeves is an incredibly talented filmmaker."

The sequel to Reeves' 2022 film, Batman: Part II, will go in a "completely different direction" than its predecessor, according to star Robert Pattinson.

Speculations about the plot and characters of the second part have been very high in the cyberspace, and everyone from the Court of Owls to Mr. Freeze and Two Faces have been rumored to be involved.

It is currently unclear if The Batman Part II release date has been pushed back again. It is currently scheduled to hit theaters on February 18, 2028.
