Akbari stated: Last year, in the war situation prevailing in the country, 3,100 kilometers of rural roads were built in different parts of the country, which provided safer and easier traffic for the villagers.

Referring to the ongoing rural road projects in the country, he continued: Currently, the construction of about 9,000 kilometers of rural roads is underway, and with the use of these projects, the average number of villages with more than 20 households will reach more than 90%.

The head of the road organization stated: With the completion of the implementation of the rural road construction projects underway in the country, the index of the population living in rural areas will increase to about 98%.

Akbari reminded: Credit resources required for the implementation of rural road projects are provided and allocated from the capacity of provincial budgets, donors' participation, national resources, social responsibilities and bitumen quota provided in the budget law.

Emphasizing on prioritizing the implementation of rural road construction projects, he said: villages that have a larger resident population, have stable employment and have a greater share in agricultural production, are prioritized for rural road construction programs.

Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development said: In the implementation of rural road construction projects, eight provinces with areas that do not benefit from this index, including Kerman, Sistan and Baluchistan, Hormozgan, Kurdistan, Razavi Khorasan, East Azerbaijan and West Azerbaijan, are given priority.

In this regard, it is targeted to complete the construction of about 3 thousand kilometers of rural roads by the end of this year.
