Foreign Ministry Explains Reports on Land Transfer to Afghanistan
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson rejected claims about transferring land to Afghanistan, attributing the matter to a misunderstanding of remarks by a member of parliament.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the claims made about the transfer of land to Afghanistan, saying that this issue was caused by a misunderstanding in the interpretation of the statements of one of the MPs.
According to Arjan's ambassador, Ismail Baqaei said in his press conference about the transfer of land to Afghanistan, which was raised by one of the representatives: I think they provided the necessary explanations themselves. This issue was actually a clear misunderstanding that was taken from the statements of one of the respected members of parliament.
He continued: "It is absolutely clear that the transfer of soil and land is not possible in any way." What has been mentioned is the procedure that exists in different countries of the world and we have used this possibility and will use it in the future. Based on this, the countries that are landlocked and do not have access to open waters will be offered facilities in the form of leases in order to help promote trade between the two countries and, within the framework of good neighborliness, to provide these countries with access to ports and open waters for commercial transactions.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: This action happens to be one of the positive initiatives in this field. In relation to Afghanistan, this issue was not raised officially, but on the sidelines of one of the official meetings where one of the ministers in Afghanistan was present, this discussion was raised and we also announced that we will investigate it. However, I emphasize that the debates and controversies raised about land transfer have no basis.
