Exports of 596 million dollars from East Azerbaijan customs

Abbaszadeh also pointed to the decrease in imports from East Azerbaijan customs in the four months of this year compared to the same period last year, and announced the import of 150,000 tons of goods worth 359 million dollars during this period.

He said that the main imported goods include mechanical machinery, tobacco, auto parts, meat and road construction equipment, which are supplied from Turkey, UAE, China, Germany and Russia.

He also mentioned the import of 51,000 tons of basic goods worth 82 million dollars and listed items such as red meat, beans, soybean meal, medicine, rice, oil and corn among these shipments, which play an important role in providing food security in the region.

The customs supervisor of East Azerbaijan also announced a significant increase of 168% in this income compared to the previous year, which shows economic dynamism and greater transparency in customs processes.

He also informed about the implementation of the comprehensive development plan of Nordoz Customs and added: With the implementation of this plan, the traffic capacity on the border between Iran and Armenia will increase, although the construction of the second bridge is also underway in Nordoz.

Abbaszadeh said: 64,000 incoming passengers and 66,000 outgoing passengers have been registered from Nordoz border in the first four months of this year.

He also emphasized the importance of Aras Corridor and said: Aras-Kalala-Aghband Corridor will be the biggest development for the province and as the share of this corridor increases for our province, exports and imports will also increase.

The Director General of East Azerbaijan Customs stated that one of the existing problems is the lack of management of the border unit and said: One of our problems is the lack of management of the border unit, and if this issue is corrected, the facilitation of traffic at the borders and customs will be done efficiently. In this regard, the President has issued orders following the Governor of East Azerbaijan.

Regarding the import of machinery and cars, he also stated: Import of cars is done in two ways, permanent import and temporary import. We don't have specific and significant statistics in the field of definitive car imports, but the import of these types of cars is better, because they have lower fuel consumption and a higher standard, and they are effective in fuel consumption.

He added: Cars are also imported under the title of temporary pass with Aras license plates and free zones, which have restrictions, and one of the existing restrictions is related to our province.

East Azerbaijan, having four general customs offices in Tabriz, Sohlan, Jolfa and Nordoz, in addition to two customs units in Maragheh and Khodaafrin, also benefits from specialized offices in Shahid Salimi industrial town and Benab city, which has provided a suitable platform for facilitating trade in the northwest of the country.
