Universal has released the first images from Miami Vice 85, featuring Michael B. Jordan as Ricardo Tubbs and Austin Butler as James "Sonny" Crockett.

The reboot of the classic '80s show, which has been in the works since last year from Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski, eased fans ahead of its 2028 release with two photos of its stars on Monday. These first photos show Jordan and Butler as the stylish, gun-toting title characters.

Both images were shared on social media to celebrate the start of production, meaning there's still plenty of work to put together before its big reveal in a few years. Below you can see Jordan as Tubbs and Butler as Crockett.

According to Variety, a description for Miami Vice '85 says the reboot explores the "glitz and corruption of mid-80s Miami." Its story is "inspired by the pilot episode and first season of the landmark television series that influenced culture and set the style for everything from fashion to filmmaking."

Despite being nearly two years away from hitting the big screen, this latest spin on one of the Miami Vice movies has gathered quite the cast. Odyssey and Miami Vice star John Leguizamo was reportedly cast as the new film's main villain in September. Fallout and The White Lotus actor Walton Goggins was added as the second villain just a few weeks ago.

Miami Vice '85 premieres on May 19, 2028. The film was produced by Kosinski and Dylan Clark (Batman), with Dan Gilroy and Eric Singer as writers.
