The Arabian Nights is coming to life with a new epic fantasy series set to hit cameras in 2027.

From the creators of "Spartacus" and "Vikings," this 10-episode show reimagines the collection of Middle Eastern and South Asian folktales known as "One Thousand and One Nights" in one interconnected epic.

According to the logline, "Cheherzad must team up with Sinbad, Aladdin, and Ali Baba to save the world from an evil sorcerer who guides jinn, dark spirits from another dimension. In the process, she becomes the greatest storyteller of all time, weaving her adventures into legendary tales that still inspire humanity today." "Arabian Nights" will shoot in Bahrain in September with the support of this country's production. The series comes from Veritas Entertainment, the Los Angeles-based production company behind "A Complete Unknown," and creator Kamran Pasha ("Sleeper Cell," "Kings") is working with "Spartacus" creator Steven S. DeKnight on a pilot script and series outline. Veritas will offer the project to buyers next week with the hope that the story will unfold over several chapters. Popular in Variety

The project is produced by Pasha and Dee Knight alongside Veritas' Peter Jassen ("Mosquito Beach") and Alan Gazmer ("Vikings"), Aaron Shershaw ("Season") and Clive Standen ("The Morning Show"). Andy Cutler also produces for Veritas Entertainment.

"We have assembled a great creative and production team to adapt one of the most famous pieces of intellectual property ever created," Jaysen and Gasmer said in a statement. We are excited to partner with Steven DeKnight and Kamran Pasha to bring their vision for The Arabian Nights and some of the most beloved characters around the world. Complementing this creative vision team is the Kingdom of Bahrain, which has proven to be a very resourceful and reliable partner."

Pasha added: "Arabian Nights" has always been a part of my cultural identity. "With this series, we have an opportunity to do something Hollywood has never done before - bring these beloved characters together in an epic story that is culturally valid while capturing the wonder and imagination of the original stories."

And DeKnight said, "I'm thrilled to be a part of this incredible venture to bring the Arabian Nights stories to today's audiences. Kamran Pasha has crafted a truly unique take that honors the source material while expanding it in an engaging and unexpected way. Gasmer and Clive Staden are truly a story in such a creative endeavor."
