Urban Armor Gear Phone Recovery Pouch

When Elliott Harris got his phone wet while washing his fishing boat, he tried to put it in rice. After the technique failed (and a grain lodged in his charge port), he paused to eat a beef snack. The silica gel pack of the snack bag gave him the idea for DryOut, a multi-layered material that draws water out of the device, absorbs and traps it, then allows the moisture to evaporate when exposed to sunlight so it can be reused. "The DryOut panel absorbs 900 times more moisture than a pack of silica gel the size of a smartphone," says Romney Williams, CEO of the company. Urban Armor Gear made a bag with this material to keep electronics wet.
