Hasan Pekar laments New York's Jewish voter shift away from Democrats and blames Israel
Hassan Pikar faced accusations of anti-Semitism after he claimed that Jewish voters were abandoning the Democratic Party simply because of Israel's foreign policy.
Jewish voters in New York appear to be drifting away from the Democratic Party, and controversial Twitch streamer Hassan Picker attributes the shift to their support for Israel.
On Wednesday, Picker responded to a CNN clip in which the network's senior analyst Harry Enten and host John Berman discussed declining support for Democrats among Jewish voters, expressing dismay at their departure from the party.
"It's wild that so many Jewish voters are leaving the Democratic Party for Israel. It's not like the Republican options offer a more attractive policy agenda, it's just Israel! It's literally about continuing Israel's warmongering. A real shame," Picker wrote in X.
Carville's warning to anti-Israel Democrats could cost him the election
In the segment, Enten explained that Jewish support for New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, has declined since her last run in 2022, according to a recent Sina poll. Antenna then revealed that Democrats' lead over Republicans among Jewish voters in New York has declined by 36 points since 2022, according to the Sinai polling average.
"The New York state poll of the US House of Jewish voters. Look at this. In 2018, Democrats were ahead by 40 points," Enten said. "In 2022, 49 points. Look at this, the polling average this year is only 13 points! That's only 13 points! That's a swing, 36 points, 36 points from the Democrats. Their lead has completely collapsed on the Hudson River among Jewish voters."
“Yes, they are still ahead. "But we're talking about historically strong numbers for Republicans among Jewish voters." "I definitely think the developments of the last few years, at least in New York, at least in this poll, have had a big impact on how Jewish voters say they're going to vote, not just for governor, but for Congress," the analyst added.
"Shame on you," Hochul deflects when pressed on the link to "anti-Christian" Mamdani in a moment of fiery debate.
"Hassan Peiker's claims that the voting preferences of American Jews are all about Middle East politics play directly into the oldest anti-Semitic slogan of dual loyalty. "He is completely wrong and trivializing the very real height of anti-Semitism that directly threatens the safety of our society," Markstein said.
Let's be clear: American Jews are fleeing the Democratic Party because its leadership continues to exalt, accommodate, and appease the most radical elements of its ultra-anti-American party base. "The sad irony is that the anti-Semitic bigot Hasan Picker, who said 'America deserved 9/11,' and national Democrats, including campaigning with Abd al-Said in Michigan, put him on Exhibit A."
Shai Davidi, a former Columbia University professor and author of "American Intellectual Anti-Semitism," also responded to Piker at X, saying, "It's not 'on Israel.' It's past people like you."

In her response to Picker, New York Post columnist Carol Markovich argued that Jewish voters have reasons to turn away from Democrats that go beyond Israel.
"Even setting aside support for Israel, which Jews absolutely must not, Jews are regularly attacked in New York and Democrats don't care," Markovich wrote in X. They are not allowed to defend themselves and the mayor regularly angers the attackers. An easy call to vote Republican.
Peker, who has long been a vocal critic of Israel, has been critical of American Jewish support for the Jewish state. In August, Streamer was lambasted by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle after he said, "People don't oppose Israel anymore. And if Jews in America come up with the idea that they're uniquely invested in Israel, eventually someone will come, and not against Israel, mind you, but against American Jews."
Critics accused Peker of blaming Jews for anti-Semitic attacks against them. Democratic Sens. Elissa Slatkin, D-Mic., and Jackie Rosen, D-Ny., condemned Pecker's comments.
"This shouldn't be hard: No community should face the threat [of] violence because of their political views," Slotkin wrote in a statement posted on social media. If you are pro-Israel, pro-Palestinian, pro-choice, pro-life, or any other cause you care about, this will happen.
Rosen said the comments were a "new low" for the controversial Twitch streamer.
"Blaming American Jews for the violence and hatred they face is not only wrong, but an excuse for those who perpetuate these anti-Semitic hate crimes," Rosen said in a statement. "Let me be absolutely clear: crimes against Jews for being Jewish is plain and simple anti-Semitism. There is no excuse for it."
Denunciation of Hassan Pekar by Democrats for spreading retreat across parties
Other Democrats, including Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J. joined in condemning Piker. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y. and Reps. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J. Richie Torres, D-N.Y. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla. Brad Schneider, D-Ill. Greg Stanton, D-Ariz. and Hillary Schulten, D-Mic.
Democratic Michigan Senate candidate Abd al-Said, who has come under fire for campaigning with a figure, distanced himself from the broadcaster after the controversial comments.
"I believe all Americans deserve the right to stand up for what they believe without fear of violence. This is especially true for communities that have historically been terrorized for their beliefs," Al-Sayed wrote in X.
"My commitment to the safety of Jews is the same as my commitment to the safety of my daughters," he added. "Anti-Semitism is a scourge, and we must address it in all its forms. And I stand against any rhetoric that puts society at risk."
