Chinese Tourists Spend the Most on Hotels and Tours

Moscow, October 15. /TASS/. Chinese tourists spend an average of 150,000 rubles ($1,791) per trip in Russia, according to a joint study by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) and analytical agency ExLibris, seen by TASS.

A total of 150,000 rubles ($1,791) is the average cost of a Chinese tourist per trip, experts noted.

According to this study, the travel budget is directly related to the duration and geography of the trip. In Moscow and St. Petersburg, travel costs can be 100,000-150,000 rubles ($1,194-1,791) more than the cost of the tour itself. Meanwhile, Chinese tours to Lake Baikal and Primorsky Krai range in price from 50,000 to 100,000 rubles ($597-1,194) per person.

Chinese tourists spend the most on hotels and excursions. At the same time, we've seen sharp increases in spending this year in categories such as grocery shopping, art museum tickets and commuter transportation, pointing to an increase in the number of independent travelers.
