Readiness of Sanandaj Agencies for Crisis Management Assessed
Sanandaj – The Sanandaj "Zero Hour" Crisis Management Drill was held to assess the operational capacity of agencies, and the governor stressed the need for prevention, addressing weaknesses, and continuous preparedness to deal with incidents.
According to Mehr reporter, Gharib Sajjadi, on Wednesday afternoon, during the zero hour crisis management exercise of the city, said: Considering the possibility of natural disasters, floods and unforeseen circumstances, the responsible agencies should always be ready to respond quickly and provide effective services to the citizens.
Pointing to the importance of planning before accidents, he added: Crisis management is not limited to actions when an accident occurs, but it is also the prediction of emergency situations, the identification of risks and the elimination of possible shortcomings, among the actions that should be continuously included in the agenda of the responsible institutions.
The governor of Sanandaj emphasized the need to pay attention to preventive measures and stated: crisis prevention can prevent life and financial losses and reduce costs caused by accidents, compared to dealing with its consequences.
Sajjadi added: Identifying high-risk areas, investigating vulnerable infrastructures, eliminating existing deficiencies, and developing operational plans appropriate to the conditions of the city should be followed seriously so that in case of possible accidents, the devices will act with greater readiness.
He considered the coordination between the executive agencies to be one of the requirements for effective crisis management and said: Each agency should know its duties and responsibilities properly and, with the cooperation of other agencies, provide the context for a quick and coherent response in emergency situations.
The readiness of equipment and operational forces must be continuous
Referring to the role of service providers in reducing the effects of possible accidents, the governor of Sanandaj stated: the readiness of equipment, manpower and relief facilities must be continuously evaluated and the responsible agencies must ensure that their capacities are ready.
He pointed out that emergency management requires prior preparation, clear division of work and coordination among responsible groups, and planning to deal with the crisis cannot be postponed until the time of the accident.
Sajjadi stated that natural disasters and unforeseen circumstances may give limited opportunities to the agencies to react, and emphasized the necessity of strengthening operational readiness and timely use of existing capacities.
He called the zero hour exercise an opportunity to measure the level of readiness of the devices in emergency situations and added: during these exercises, the speed of action, coordination and operational capacity of the responsible groups are evaluated and possible weak points for planning and correction are identified.
The governor of Sanandaj emphasized: The results of the evaluations should be the basis for improving the performance of the devices and the identified deficiencies should be fixed with continuous follow-up so that in the event of an accident, the process of providing aid and providing services to citizens can be done without delay and with maximum capacity.
In the end, Sajjadi emphasized on the continuation of preparedness and prevention programs at the city level and considered inter-departmental coordination, improvement of operational capacity and constant readiness of executive and service providers as requirements to reduce damages caused by crises.
