According to Mehr reporter, Hojjat-ul-Islam Mojtabi Noorzad criticized the reports about the restriction of veiled female teachers in the Republic of Azerbaijan in his Friday prayer sermons and stated: Fighting the hijab is not only a fight against a divine order, but also an open battle with the ancient culture and identity and historical civilization of a nation.

Emphasizing the necessity of respecting the religious beliefs of families, he added: No girl should be forced to choose between continuing her education and adhering to her religious beliefs, and the deprivation of veiled women and girls from educational and social opportunities is a serious issue.

Referring to the historical, cultural and religious ties between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Imam Juma Talash emphasized the need to strengthen brotherly relations between the two countries and warned against the role of extra-regional powers in creating tension and spreading religious differences in the region.

He continued by recalling the historical experience of the discovery of compulsory hijab during the period of Reza Shah, and emphasized on avoiding coercion in matters of faith and said: Hijab is not an obstacle for the progress of women and women can have an effective presence in scientific, sports and social fields while adhering to religious beliefs.

In the end, Imam Juma Talash expressed his hope that the hijab-related restrictions in the Republic of Azerbaijan will be removed through dialogue, planning and mutual respect, and Muslim girls will be able to continue their education and progress without worrying about deprivation.
