Deceptive Call Aimed at Emptying Savings

Tabriz – The head of the Cyber Police (FATA) in East Azerbaijan Province reported that a citizen was defrauded when cyber fraudsters emptied his bank account under the pretext that he had won a prize.

Tabriz- The head of FATA police of East Azerbaijan province informed about the case of fraud of a citizen who, under the pretext of winning a prize, cyber fraudsters had emptied his bank account.

According to Mehr reporter, Colonel Akbar Mohammad Jaafari explained this news to reporters on Monday afternoon: A citizen approached the FATA police and submitted a judicial report stating that an unauthorized withdrawal of 3 billion Rials was made from his bank account.

He clarified: With the request of this victimized citizen from the FATA police to identify the fraudster and in order to get his right, a team of experts from this police immediately put the matter on their agenda.

This police officer added: In the preliminary investigations, it was found that an unknown person contacted the complainant and announced that you won a prize in the lottery of one of the operators.

Colonel Akbar Mohammad Jaafari stated: Unfortunately, upon hearing the news of winning the prize, the victim citizen gave all the requested information to the caller, and in the meantime, a total of 3 billion Rials was withdrawn from the three bank accounts of the complainant.

He stated: In order to deal with the issue of notification and after detailed investigations, the fraudster was identified and the necessary measures were taken in this regard in coordination with the judicial authority.

This law enforcement official further announced the return of the defrauded money to the complainant's account and said: In the continuation of the process of handling the case and according to the timely actions and arrangements made, all 3 billion Rials illegally withdrawn were returned to the complainant's account.

Stating that citizens should be aware of this type of fraud, he said: Fraudsters engage in fraud by increasing the curiosity and enthusiasm of the audience and establishing communication using various deceptive methods, and in the end, the victim realizes that there is no news about the prize, and the main loser is none other than the complainant.
