European retailer MediaMarkt has pulled Ledger products as the wallet maker investigates reports of tampering beyond CryptoBilis in Southeast Asia.

MediaMarktSaturn, the parent company of European electronics retailer MediaMarkt, removed Ledger products from its stores and online platforms amid reports of tampering with hardware wallets.

"Retail group MediaMarktSaturn has removed all of the manufacturer's products from its stores and online platforms and is in contact with the manufacturer," a spokesperson told Cointelegraph in an email on Tuesday. We take this incident very seriously."

On Monday, an X user known as Johannes claimed to have purchased two Ledger wallets from separate MediaMarkt stores. Both contained unauthorized cables and cellular modules, he said.

The security concerns surfaced on Friday after the ledger said it was investigating reports of damage to devices sold through Southeast Asian vendor Cryptobilis. Ledger said Tuesday that the implants transmit users' recovery phrases over cellular networks and that it is investigating reports beyond CryptoBilis.

Separately, Mark Karpeles, former CEO of Mt. Gox said on Tuesday that the Ledger Flex purchased at the Singapore airport contained a spy implant. Ledger responded by referring users to its latest CryptoBilis research update, without directly addressing the Singapore case.

Cointelegraph contacted Ledger to ask if it had approved tampered devices in Europe, but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
