GTA 6 Developer Rockstar Insists Its Next Game Will Not Take 8 Years to Build

Rockstar Promises Its Next Game After GTA 6 Won't Take Long to Release, Though It Gives No Hints as to What It Might Be

Rockstar has promised that it won't be too long after GTA 6 to release its next game, though it hasn't hinted at what that might be.

GTA 6 finally launched in November, eight years after the release of its last game, Red Dead Redemption 2. In a new report by Bloomberg detailing the challenges Rockstar faced during the development of GTA 6, the company's leadership stated that whatever comes next won't be long as the work done for GTA 6 lays a foundation for it to follow more quickly.

"The engine, tools and team we've built over the course of this project allow us to get things done faster," said Phil Hooker, one of the development managers.

"I'm sure we can take that and push it further to make more engaging content."

"We basically changed a lot of things on this project," added Aaron Garbutt, one of the development managers. "But now it's over and we're not taking it apart."

The question that fans have is what will be Rockstar's next game? Bloomberg compares the release of GTA 6 to GTA 3, as the first 3D GTA game paved the way for the release of Quickfire Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which came out a year later in 2002.

Many hope and expect Rockstar to make a Red Dead Redemption 3, although Rockstar itself has not indicated any plans to do so. A year ago, Rockstar Games co-founder and former head writer Dan Houser said RDR3 "may happen." In 2023, Roger Clarke, who played Red Dead Redemption 2's protagonist Arthur Morgan, said he was "sure" fans would see Red Dead Redemption 3 "one day," but qualified that statement by saying he didn't know when that would be. Clarke also ruled out Arthur Morgan returning to the game, should it happen. It might seem obvious if you've played Red Dead Redemption 2, but there's always the possibility that Rockstar could consider another prequel.

"I'm sure we'll see Red Redemption 3 one day," Clarke said. “When it will be – I have absolutely no idea. Don't count on Arthur's participation either. "I feel like his story has been told."

In a subsequent interview with IGN, Clarke expanded on his thoughts: “Yeah, it really caught on! I thought that was obvious. don't you want And it's not like I have any inside information, but there will definitely be another Red Dead. More than 60 million copies sold!

"Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said so himself," he continued. He said GTA and Red Dead are flagship franchises for Rockstar Games and will return to them in the future. So there is no doubt that there will be another Red Dead. But will Arthur Morgan be involved? Honestly, I doubt it very much. And I think it will be a long time before we see even a sniffer of anything new related to Red Dead. "I don't know how it's going to happen, but I wouldn't bet on Arthur that you're sorry for that."

Back in April this year, Hollywood star Jack Black revealed the character he'd like to play in Red Dead Redemption 3 if Rockstar makes the game: Jack Black. Instead of a Red Dead Redemption movie, which Black said he would love to star in if the opportunity arose, the Bowser actor would like to star in Red Dead Redemption 3. And it turns out there's a character named Jack Black who likes to act.

"Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place at the turn of the century, right?" Black told Polygon while promoting Super Mario Galaxy. "At the time there was a character called Jack Black who wrote an autobiography called 'You Can't Win.' I would love to play Jack Black in Red Dead Redemption 3."

Would you like to see Rockstar make Red Dead Redemption 3?

No! The story is complete and Rockstar should put it out there

Depends on how Rockstar does it (tell us why in the comments)
