STX Stacks, a Bitcoin layer-2 token, has risen 50% over four weeks
Your Daily Outlook for October 13, 2026
While major cryptocurrencies continue to be volatile, STX, the main token of Bitcoin Stacks' Layer 2 project, is on the rise. The cryptocurrency is up nearly 10% in 24 hours, 14% in the past week and more than 50% in four weeks, outperforming Bitcoin BTC at $83,696.96, Ether at $2,504.95, XRP (XRP) and other cryptocurrencies.
The outperformance likely reflects investor interest in Stacks' illegal Bitcoin staking architecture. This framework allows Bitcoin holders to stake directly in the main Bitcoin blockchain and earn returns while maintaining tight control over their private keys. In contrast, traditional frameworks require users to wrap their assets in synthetic tokens (such as wBTC) or transfer funds on cross-chain bridges to earn more profits.
The Stacks framework relies on a mechanism called "bonding" that requires participants to lock assets to secure the network. "Link Period 3", which will take place in November, requires participants who own native STX to lock a certain proportion of STX alongside their BTC – equivalent to roughly 5% of their total Bitcoin value – to successfully secure the protocol's accumulated capacity.
This creates a positive feedback loop for STX: as more Bitcoin enters the Stacks ecosystem, a larger portion of STX is systematically locked up and removed from the active market. By tying Bitcoin liquidity directly to STX scarcity, the architecture skews the supply-demand dynamic heavily in favor of long-term price increases.
Round 3 follows Rounds 1 and 2, which served as preliminary steps to secure the transfer of signatories and boost initial liquidity.
STX is not the only coin that has increased in 24 hours. BDX, REDNER, and PYTH are the other major gainers, adding 6% each. This is a sign of the increasing turn of liquidity towards coins other than mainstream cryptocurrencies.
However, the broader context is highly dependent on macroeconomic indicators. Analysts are gearing up for Wednesday's US Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, which could heavily influence expectations for the Federal Reserve's upcoming interest rate decisions. Be alert!

The second largest crypto by market cap has returned to its established yellow consolidation rectangle. Right now it's firmly stuck in that range.
If prices break through the upper end of the consolidation, the market may return to the recent high of $2,800. If the dual support at $2,400 – the lower end of the consolidation and the ascending channel – holds, it will mean the end of the rally from the July low.
