The Chinese company BYD (BYD), one of the world's leading car manufacturers in the field of electric vehicles, has just unveiled its flagship model for the European market. BYD Auto 8, which was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, is the first European model of this company that uses the second generation of the 115 kWh Blade battery. This advanced battery enables BYD Flash super fast charging technology; This means that Auto 8 can be charged from 10 to 70% of its capacity in just 5 minutes. This car needs only 9 minutes to fully charge from 10% to 97% capacity, which is a significant improvement in electric vehicle charging technology.
The BYD Atto 8 will be offered with two different powertrains that both use the same battery pack. The RWD Design model has a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 455 horsepower and 366 Nm of torque and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds. This model has a range of 652 km according to the WLTP standard.
Another option, the AWD Excellence model, has an electric motor on each axle that produces a total of 764 horsepower and 774 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h of this powerful model is only 4.6 seconds, but its range is reduced to 602 km according to WLTP.
Dimensions and internal features of Auto 8
At 5040 mm long, 1996 mm wide and 1760 mm high, the BYD Auto 8 has very similar dimensions to the Kia EV9, but is larger than the Skoda Peaq. These large dimensions provide generous interior space for seven passengers.
Inside, the new model is equipped with a panoramic glass roof, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a 26-inch head-up display on the windshield, and a 15.6-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, which also supports built-in Google functions.
