IRIB Lorestan and Lorestan University of Medical Sciences Collaborate to Improve Health Literacy

Khorramabad – The Director General of IRIB Lorestan Province says joint educational and media programs will pave the way for improving health literacy, raising public awareness, and strengthening public trust in health services.

According to Ambassador Arjan Hamed Fatehi, in a think-tank meeting with the president of Lorestan University of Medical Sciences, vice-presidents and senior managers of this university, he emphasized on the development of joint cooperation in the field of health information, public awareness and the production of educational and media programs.

In this meeting, referring to the role of the national media in raising awareness and improving the health of the society, he said: Lorestan Center Radio and Television has always tried to increase public trust, strengthen social resilience, and improve people's health by providing detailed information about health services and activities.

Interdepartmental cooperation to better respond to people's demands

The director general of Lorestan Broadcasting Center emphasized the necessity of expanding inter-departmental cooperation and added: We are trying to create a collaborative environment between the University of Medical Sciences, broadcasting and other related institutions, and use the available capacities for more effective information and more appropriate response to people's needs and demands.

Pointing to the importance of coordination between the institutions active in the field of health and media, Fatehi stated: the formation and strengthening of the joint headquarters of health, treatment, health and national media in the province can be the basis for synergy of capacities, greater coordination of institutions and formulation of joint and targeted media programs.

According to him, strengthening these collaborations can lead to greater coherence in specialized information, more accurate transmission of health messages and increase the effectiveness of awareness programs.

Creating hope and reflecting the achievements of the health system

He listed creating hope, responding to public demands and reflecting achievements and services in the field of health as one of the priorities of the cooperation between Seda-Sima and Lorestan University of Medical Sciences and said: with detailed planning and continuous interaction, the field of spreading promising news, increasing public awareness and strengthening the relationship between the people and the health system should be provided.

Fathi emphasized: accurate and timely information about health services and activities, in addition to raising awareness, can help to better understand existing capacities and strengthen public trust.

Producing joint programs to promote health literacy

Referring to the scientific and specialized capacities of the Lorestan University of Medical Sciences, the general director of the Lorestan Broadcasting Center considered the development of joint media productions as one of the important fields of cooperation between the two groups and suggested that the joint radio and television programs with the participation of this university should be expanded more than before.

He added: Using the knowledge and experience of faculty members, specialists and experts in the field of health in producing media programs can play an effective role in improving the health literacy of the society, correcting false beliefs, preventing diseases and increasing people's awareness about the correct methods of health care.

Fatihi also emphasized the importance of using the capacity of university experts in producing educational and specialized content so that health messages are transmitted to the society with scientific accuracy and according to the needs of the audience.

Continuation of interactions to improve the health of the people of Lorestan

This meeting ended its work by emphasizing the continuation of bilateral interactions between Lorestan Radio and Television Center and the province's University of Medical Sciences.
