Omar's attack brought an ominous warning from Vance as he unleashes the progressive representative's "anger" at America.

JD Vance says the Trump administration will not interfere in the Justice Department investigation into Ilhan Omar, but warns that unprecedented action could follow if fraud is uncovered.

Vance blasted Ilhan Omar for his "anger" and "contempt" for America in his first response since federal forces raided his home in DC.

Vance, however, insisted that the law will be enforced if immigration fraud is discovered.

"We don't want to be like the Biden administration. We never want to be like this — where they let the law go after their political opponents," the vice president said in an exclusive interview after a midterm campaign rally in the Lone Star State on Tuesday.

"We really want to let the law, the facts drive this," he continued. And if justice requires that something else be done, of course we will take a step if necessary."

Democrats' anger over Ilhan Omar's attack Admirable reminder of governments about attacks from the past: "Set the record straight"

Conservatives have repeatedly accused then-President Joe Biden's Justice Department of politically harassing President Donald Trump and his allies after the end of his first term.

Most notably to critics, Trump's Mar-a-Lago home was brought up by the FBI as part of an investigation into the misuse of classified documents. The case was closed when Trump was re-elected in 2024.

"In the Trump administration, unlike the previous administration, we've let the facts and the law drive these issues — so the president and I don't really cut ourselves any slack in the Justice Department's investigation," Vance said. We are not trying to micromanage. "We're not trying to tell [Attorney General] Todd Blanch to do this or that. We're trying to let the facts guide the matter."

"So we're going to let the investigation continue," he continued before warning. "Of course, if criminal wrongdoing is discovered or potentially fraudulent immigration is discovered, there will obviously be legal procedures to follow," he continued before warning.

While an investigation into potential immigration fraud involving a member of Congress is unprecedented, Vance reiterated that authorities will go where the facts show them — regardless of the circumstances of the case.

"I think we have to let the facts and the law guide this, right? So I don't think you can say because politics might be difficult or politics might be easy, you can't follow the law. You have to actually enforce the law as it is."

In addition, the vice president criticized Omar for his negative attitude toward the United States, despite it being the country his family fled to in order to escape the civil war in Somalia in 1991.

"And as for it being unprecedented, I mean, what I'm trying to say is that Ilhan Omar himself is a very unprecedented person," he said.

"We've rarely had someone in Congress who seems to have such contempt and anger for the country that it would give him a better life," Vance said. "Now, that's not a crime."

"But we'll see if he committed a crime. And if he does, we'll obviously follow the law," he reiterated.

Vance made the comments after a rally on behalf of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport in Tyler, Texas, a city about 100 miles east of Dallas.

Paxton is in a head-to-head race with Democratic state Rep. James Talarico as Republicans battle hard for control of Congress.

Ilhan Omar's wealth scandal unfolded just one day after his home in DC was raided.

On Monday afternoon, Omar responded to the attack on social media, both through his personal and government X accounts.

"I'm fine," Omar wrote on his X a few hours after searching. Make no mistake: This is an effort to target political enemies and arm federal law enforcement.

He continued: Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns for ten years. "This is the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silent."

In a post from his official Government X account at 1:30 p.m., Omar elaborated further.

"This attack by Trump's DHS is an outrageous abuse of power and an unprecedented escalation in the arming of federal law enforcement to target political enemies. He said that for a decade, Donald Trump has relentlessly targeted Congresswoman Ilhan Omar with inflammatory rhetoric, repeatedly putting a target on her back.

"Now, these attacks have escalated into a pointless federal attack. The Congresswoman has done nothing wrong. "No president should be able to use the power of the federal government to intimidate his political enemies."
