Taiz Within Reach of Liberation as Yemeni Army Reaches Southern Gate of City

Media reports say Yemeni army forces have reached the outskirts of Taiz from several directions. At the same time, as Sanaa proposes a peaceful handover of the city, field advances on the Bab al-Mandab and Lahj fronts have put the supply lines of Saudi-affiliated armed groups under threat.

Media sources reported that Yemeni army forces have reached the outskirts of Taiz city from several axes, and at the same time as Sanaa's offer to hand over the city peacefully, field advances on the fronts of Bab al-Mandab and Lahj have threatened the support lines of armed groups affiliated with Saudi Arabia.

According to the report of Ambassador Arjan, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that Yemeni army forces reached the outskirts of Taiz city on Monday from several axes, and as a result, eyes have been drawn to the possibility of the fall of this city. An event that will be a new blow to Saudi Arabia in Yemen.

According to Ambassador Arjan, at the same time as the deployment of the Yemeni army forces in the 2 eastern and western gates of Taiz, these forces also advanced towards the southern gate of the city. A situation that has left Riyadh-affiliated armed groups with difficult choices, especially since some of these groups still refuse to hand over the city without a fight.

A local source in Taiz said in an interview with Al-Akhbar that the Yemeni government wants to prevent bloodshed and keep cities and populated areas away from military conflicts and has given the mercenaries a chance to leave Taiz by guaranteeing a safe exit, and security is also provided for those who wish to stay.

This source emphasized that the decision of general amnesty includes all people, except those who have committed crimes and have private rights and legal responsibilities.

According to this source, there are differences and divisions in the ranks of the armed groups based in Taiz, and a number of military commanders, political figures and party leaders have left Taiz with the consent of the Yemeni army and under the protection of its forces, and have gone to the cities of Aden and Marib.

This source added that Ansarullah's proposal regarding the departure of Saudi-affiliated leaders is still valid and the decision of amnesty for all those who want to benefit from it is still valid.

He emphasized that the calls continue with the mediation of social figures to hand over Taiz without war.

According to this report, Yemeni army forces managed to take control of the city's central prison on Monday night and advance in the area. In the southern gate, fierce clashes took place between these forces and groups affiliated with Riyadh.

Local sources also reported the fierce clashes between the forces of Ansarullah and armed groups affiliated with Saudi Arabia around Jabal al-Arus, one of the most important defensive positions of Taiz city, and Jabal Sabr.

According to Al-Akhbar report, despite the limited possibility of maneuver and the reduction of the chances of Riyadh-affiliated forces to maintain control of Taiz, Saudi Arabia continues to put pressure on the armed groups to continue to resist and not to give up the city.

According to several local sources, Riyadh has threatened these groups with the possibility of a street war.

On the other hand, the Yemeni government has started preparations for the normalization of life in Taiz and has announced the reopening of the blocked roads, and the local authorities related to it have also announced their readiness to end the domestic fuel and gas crisis in a statement.

The Yemeni army has also assured the residents of this city, whose population is estimated to be around three million, that it prioritizes the protection of people's lives and their properties.

On the Bab al-Mandab front, Yemeni army forces carried out an operation to bypass the positions of armed groups affiliated with Saudi Arabia. The purpose of the operation is to encircle these groups in the suburbs of Zobab and Al-Saqiya area in the area of Ras al-Ara, in the west of Lahj province.

In an interview with Al-Akhbar, field sources announced that Yemeni army forces have penetrated into the areas of Al-Sabiha and Al-Madarabah and have taken control of all the mountainous heights of Al-Sabiha. This advance took place after the fall of the strategic positions of the forces affiliated to Saudi Arabia.

According to military observers, this plan could expose any aid force that enters the region from Aden through the coastal route to fire. Also, this advance provides the possibility of thwarting any new escalation of the conflict by Saudi-affiliated groups in Al-Waziyah axis, and these groups in the east of Bab al-Mandab will face the option of retreating and stopping the conflict.
