Narnia: The Magician's Nephew trailer gets first poster, drawing skeptical fans
The first poster for Narnia: The Magician's Nephew is here, and it appears to have won over a few skeptical fans.
The first poster for Greta Gerwig's Narnia: The Witch's Nephew is here, and it seems to have attracted quite a few skeptical fans.
Netflix shared a sneak peek of the new Narnia movie on social media today. This came with the promise that a first look at the Barbie director's foray into the popular fantasy world will be released tomorrow via a trailer, though it's unclear when it will premiere.
The poster for Narnia: The Magician's Nephew (below) appears to harken back to art that appeared in some editions of the original novels by author C.S. Lewis, The Wizard's Nephew novels, featured. That means the three people here lit by rainbows are Polly (Beatrice Campbell), Diggory (David McKenna) and their flying horse, Paralyze. Meanwhile, the space lion adorning the background mocks Aslan Meryl Streep.
The new poster for Gerwig's Netflix movie doesn't reveal much about the story or the characters, but it's the look and feel that has fans in awe. Even some of the more skeptical viewers, who are terrified of what a 2026 adaptation of Lewis' work will look like here, have taken to social media to praise the art.
"Well, it actually looks pretty cool," said one Reddit user.
Another added: "Where credit is due, this is one hell of a poster."
Another user added: "Looks like a poster from a 1980s/early 90s fantasy movie and I'm here for it."
That's not to say there aren't still those who won't be affected. Most of the concern seems to stem from the fact that some revered characters in fantasy may be warped or damaged by the impact. Some naysayers are more vocal than others, but in reality, it's hard to say whether or not Gerwig will land the plane, but we'll certainly have a better idea when the film comes out next year.
"If I didn't know anything else about this movie, I'd be excited," said one more cautious fan.
"I really like the visuals they did with the movie," explained another. "Lots of cool movie stuff especially here. I just don't like the time jump and Jadis' dress doesn't feel regal. It should be good technically but less so elsewhere."
