Construction of the Sajadrud Dam in Babol Begins
BABOL – The managing director of the Mazandaran Regional Water Company announced the start of executive operations on the Sajadrud reservoir dam in Babol County.
According to Mehr reporter, Haider Davodian said at the opening ceremony of the Sajjadroud Reservoir Dam, with a height of 70 meters, a crown length of 350 meters and a reservoir capacity of 21,500,000 cubic meters, it provides the possibility of regulating 48,500,000 cubic meters of water annually.
Referring to the importance of water resources management in Mazandaran province, Davodian said: Considering the central role of agriculture in the regional economy and water resources planning until 1430, the implementation of infrastructure projects should be followed in such a way that, while meeting water needs, social and property damages are minimized and people's concerns about the relocation of settlements and damage to farmers' livelihoods are taken into account.
Babol Governor Mustafa Mirtbar, referring to the long-standing problems of water supply in this city, said at the ceremony of the start of the executive operation of Sajjadroud Dam: the decrease in the water supply of the springs during periods of low rainfall and the drying up of part of the water supply wells has revealed the necessity of curbing the runoff in the rainy seasons more than in the past.
He expressed his hope that the implementation of this national plan can compensate for some of the infrastructural lags of the city in the field of water and added: the promise of allocating one thousand billion tomans of credit by the governor of Mazandaran can help speed up the implementation of the project.
The rights of the upstream and downstream people should be secured at the same time
Hassan Netaj, the representative of the people of Babylon in the Islamic Council, emphasized the necessity of justice in the implementation of infrastructure projects and stated: Just as the supply of drinking water and agriculture is important for the downstream residents, the demands and rights of the people of the upstream areas must also be heard and realized.
Referring to the problems of some upstream residents in accessing safe drinking water, he added: Some of the people in these areas suffer from unsanitary drinking water, and it is necessary to think of a solution to solve this problem in the implementation of the project.
Appreciating Mazandaran Governor's support for the implementation of Sajjadroud dam, Netaj expressed hope that the coordination of the executive bodies will provide the basis for responding to the livelihood and welfare demands of the people of the region while solving the infrastructural deficiencies of Babol.
