OpenAI equipped the Google Chrome ChatGPT extension with the ability to read and control open browser tabs.

According to Ambassador Arjan, OpenAI added new features to the Chrome browser extension that allows ChatGPT to directly read and analyze the content of the user's open tabs. Users can ask the artificial intelligence to compare the data of different pages by tagging the name of Chrome in the web application or desktop version.

A recent update replaces the discontinued Atlas project and brings artificial intelligence to the browser's sidebar to allow access to the full chat history without leaving the active screen.

The developers have shared examples of the new tool's uses:

Use the event summary details to complete the registration form and stop before final submission

Transferring the information of the sellers present in the tabs to the comparison table along with the price and main features

Checking all the open tabs, comparing the services of contractors and writing a draft email to the right option

Completing the dental form in the open Chrome tab and recording the appointment time in the work and personal calendar

ChatGPT's work section has gained the ability to control tabs for things like sending messages, downloading files, filling out forms, and sorting or grouping web pages; A mechanism that is very similar to the automatic browsing feature of Google Jamna.
