Trump Has Reached a Dead End
Germany's defense minister, referring to Donald Trump's agreement with Russia to supply diesel fuel, said the recent shift in the US president's stance toward Moscow stems from intense domestic political pressure and will backfire.
Referring to Donald Trump's agreement with Russia to supply diesel fuel, the German Minister of Defense announced that the recent change of the US President's position towards Moscow is due to intense domestic political pressure and will have the opposite effect.
According to Ambassador Arjan, Boris Pistorius, the Minister of Defense of Germany, believes that the recent change in the position of Donald Trump, the President of the United States, towards Russia is the result of intense internal political pressures in the United States.
Pistorius said in his speech at the employers' conference in Berlin that Trump is deadlocked, faced with serious problems and limited in his scope of action, just weeks before the US midterm elections.
He stated: "History shows that when leaders are under pressure inside the country, they look for a way out of this situation through foreign policy."
The German Defense Minister also added that he believes that Trump's action will have the opposite effect.
Diesel fuel agreement with Russia and criticism of Trump
Pistorius' comments came after Trump announced on October 9 that he had reached an agreement to supply hundreds of thousands of tons of diesel fuel from Russia following talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This action has faced severe criticism from European allies as well as within the United States.
Meanwhile, Trump's request to appoint a new president in Ukraine to replace Volodymyr Zelensky has also been criticized.
