Only Four Clean-Air Days Recorded in Mashhad in the First Half of 1405

The Deputy for Human Environment at the Khorasan Razavi Department of Environment Protection said that in the first half of this year, based on the air quality index at 7 a.m., Mashhad experienced only four clean-air days. In the same period, more than 1,000 pollution cases were identified through specialized tests by the province's environmental laboratories.

Referring to the air quality situation in Mashhad in the first half of 1405, according to Ambassador Arjan of Khorasan, Mehdi Yazdanjo said: From the beginning of the year to the end of September, based on the air quality index at 7:00 AM, this metropolis has had 137 days of acceptable air, 41 days of unhealthy air for sensitive groups, and only four days of clean air.

Referring to the performance of Khorasan Razavi environmental laboratories, he said: In the first half of this year, more than 3,900 specialized tests were carried out in various environmental fields, which play an important role in identifying pollutants, evaluating the quality of resources, and strengthening environmental monitoring.

Khorasan Razavi, Deputy Director of Human Environment of the General Directorate of Environmental Protection, added: These measurements were carried out in the fields of physical and chemical, biology, hospital waste, air, sound, soil and heavy metals, and in the laboratories of the General Directorate of Environmental Protection of the province and its subordinate departments.

Stating that 15 pollutant indicators are evaluated in each laboratory test, Yazdanjo clarified: Effective management of the environment is not possible without access to accurate and reliable data, and specialized laboratories are one of the main pillars of the environmental monitoring and decision-making system. In the course of these measurements, more than a thousand cases of pollution have been detected.

He continued: Conducting these tests allows for a more accurate assessment of the quality of resources and the identification and analysis of pollutants. Also, the development of the network of trusted laboratories and the utilization of the capacity of the designated laboratory in the east of the country will help to strengthen the scientific infrastructure of environmental monitoring in the province and region.

Razavi, Deputy Director of Human Environment of the General Department of Environmental Protection of Khorasan Razavi, noted: These measurements were carried out with the aim of assessing the state of environmental pollutants, controlling the quality of various resources and providing specialized support for the province's environmental monitoring and surveillance processes.

Referring to the measures taken to develop the province's regulatory capacity, Yazdanjo said: In the first half of this year, 6 meetings of the province's accredited laboratories committee were held, and in these meetings, the process of issuing, renewing and upgrading the certificates of 6 laboratory centers to operate as accredited laboratories of the Environmental Protection Organization, in more than 110 specialized parameters, was reviewed and followed up.

According to him, these parameters include the fields of physical and chemical, air and sound, metals, microbes, infectious waste and soil, and the development of this capacity provides the basis for conducting more specialized evaluations and strengthening the province's laboratory network.

Conducting more than 50 joint experiments with the eastern provinces of the country

Referring to the regional position of the laboratory of this general department, the vice president of human environment of the general department of environmental protection, Khorasan Razavi, said: as the designated laboratory of the eastern part of the country, the environmental laboratory of the province, in addition to providing the specialized capacity needed by Khorasan Razavi, also participates in conducting joint experiments with the applicants of the eastern provinces.

Yazdanjo added: In the first half of this year, more than 50 joint experiments were conducted in this framework, which shows the regional role of the environmental laboratory capacity of Razavi Khorasan.

He also pointed to the performance of environmental laboratories of the province in 1404 and said: In total, last year, more than 7,630 indicators in the fields of biology, hospital, water, air, sewage and soil were measured in the environmental laboratories of Razavi Khorasan.

Razavi, the deputy of human environment of Khorasan General Department of Environmental Protection, emphasized: Strengthening laboratory and specialized capacities, along with field monitoring, provides the basis for more accurate assessment of the environment and identification of polluting sources based on scientific data, and this approach is considered one of the important pillars of improving the quality of environmental monitoring in the province.
